Diabetic Eye Screening

All diabetics should be examined at the time of diagnosis of their condition, and yearly thereafter.

This is because Diabetes has several eye conditions that are associated with it including: Glaucoma, Cataracts and Retinal diseases.

Several of these conditions cause absolutely NO symptoms of any problem until it is too late to get the best results from any treatment.

It is never simply good enough to feel that as long as vision seems to be good, that the eyes are healthy in the presence of Diabetes.

A full yearly eye exam is performed on Diabetics. This includes Vision, Eye Pressures, examination of the front part as well as inside the eyes.  Early treatment need not involve laser treatment, but should this treatment be indicated based according to International Criteria, it is performed in clinic using the Argon Laser.
